The Wakefield Back Catalogue

In April 1983, the founding members of the Wakefield BBC Micro User Group handed out a “hints & tips” sheet to those who attended the inaugural meeting. Twenty nine years on – and after several name changes along the way – the Club’s monthly newsletter is still going strong.

To celebrate the end of Volume 29 of The WROCC, we have relaunched the Wakefield Back Catalogue CD. It contains over 350 back issues of the newsletter, including more than 100 from the 1980s and 1990s which didn’t make it on to the first edition and until recently had been considered lost. Indeed, we believe that there are now less than five issues left unaccounted for from the Club’s twenty nine year history.

The disc contains almost 120MBytes of data, including:

Hints & Tips sheets for the BBC Micro from the 1980s
Newsletters from the early days of the Archimedes and RISC OS
Back issues of Awake, as the publication became known for much of the 1990s and early 2000s
Issues of The WROCC from 2003 until March 2012

Many of the files have been converted from the original Impression and Ovation Pro format using GhostScript with the PostScript 3 drivers to ensure the best possible quality. They should be readable on any platform that can read PDF documents.

Now together in one place, this collection provides a wealth of useful information as well as a fascinating look back at the history of our platform and one of its longest-running user groups.
